Lapwings in the media
The 2016 Lapwing Championship was reported on the Yachts and Yachting website.
The Aldeburgh Junior Lapwings get a mention in the East Anglian Daily Times, 25 July 2016. It is an article about the making of the original Swallows and Amazons film, tied in with a showing of this film at the Aldeburgh Cinema on 25th July. Sophie Neville, 'Titty' from the film, was in Aldeburgh and came down to the AYC to join in with the Junior Lapwing Weekend. Sophie sailed in a Junior Lapwing and discussed the film with some of the children. She wrote a blog post about her time with the Aldeburgh Lapwings, which included some lovely photographs and can be found here.
The article from the EADT also appeared in the Ipswich Star.

Yachts and Yachting Magazine, November 2015 had an article by David Henshall about the Bosham Classic Boat Revival which discusses the Lapwings which competed in the Slow Handicap Fleet.
'In the slow handicap fleet - dominated numerically by the large fleet of Tideways - attention fell on the pair of Aldeburgh Lapwings that had travelled down from the east coast. These 12ft 6in dinghies were designed by Morgan Giles, so clearly have a racing pedigree and remain popular up on the River Alde. What made the Lapwings special this year was the presence of number 28, Pipit, sailed by 14-year-old Tilly Mattich. Having learnt to sail in her mother's Lapwing, Tilly decided that she wanted her own. Short of the funds needed, she busked with her violin outside the fish and chip shop in the village. Tilly sailed her boat into third place overall, finishing just ahead of the local Chichester Scow sailed by Izzie Lee. Overall victory went down to the wire, with another Lapwing sailed by John Fildes and Charlotte Clay and Michael Young's Tideway fighting over the two top spots, with the Lapwing just stealing the win.'
The annual Lapwing Championship gets written up on the Yachts and Yachting website.
