Ladies who launch
Ladies who launch is an initiative run from the Aldeburgh Yacht Club to encourage more women to sail. Every Wednesday afternoon in the summer, Lizzi Thistlethwayte leads a group of women in boats on the River Alde. Safety boat cover is provided by the Yacht Club. Usually the group cruises up or down river, but sometimes they are put through their paces by an instructor. Afterwards, tea and cake are enjoyed by all in the club house.
LWL tend to use Lapwings for their sailing, though other boats are used as well. There is a club Lapwing available for use by LWL and other Lapwings are used by their owners.
LWL is open to all, including any Lads who wish to join the Ladies. If you want to come along, contact Lizzi and let her know and she will organise you into boats, if you do not have your own.
