LM told the group that a small charge would be made to join the Association, which would also help with funds. It was mentioned that the Association would be open to any who support the lapwing class, not just present owners as there is a current googlemail list of 100+ well wishers.
RK mentioned to the group that the Class Rules would need to be re-written if an association was created. FL offered to circulate the most up to date rules (1985) to everyone with the minutes.
SD suggested that the association charge for the use of ‘Chickadee’ and ‘Knot’. It was agreed that it was fair to ‘charter’ the boats out for regattas and the championships but FL felt it was important to offer the boats out to try and for Ladies Who Launch without a cost. It was agreed it was important to thoroughly brief anyone new to lapwings before taking them out on the water. FL asked whether we felt we could name the association ‘Friends of Aldeburgh Lapwings’ but RK assured us that we must name it as a class association.
